Hope & Homes: A Century of Caring

13A_books_hope_and_homesDescription

In 1903, the Baptist General Convention of Indian Territory voted to create a home for orphans. Since then, the organization has provided homes for more than 16,000 children affected by abuse, abandonment, neglect and poverty.

Today, The Oklahoma Baptist Homes for Children operates four residential campuses, four pregnancy centers and an adolescent/adult maternity program throughout the State of Oklahoma.

Commissioned by the Baptist General Convention and endorsed by Oklahoma Governor Frank Keating, this commemorative pictorial book parallels the triumphs and tragedies of our state, our nation, the ministry of the Oklahoma Baptist Homes for Children and was used as a gift to donors, as the non-profit organization kicked off an $11 million Centennial fundraising campaign.

With no connection to the organization, the book inspired a resident from the State of Texas to give a $500-thousand gift, when she saw the book for the first time.
